Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Dozer and Excavator Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will operate heavy equipment to perform earthmoving, grading, and excavation tasks essential for landfill development and maintenance. This role requires precision, adherence to environmental regulations, and a strong commitment to safety.
Responsibilities
- Operate dozers and excavators to move, grade, and compact soil and other materials for landfill construction and cell development.
- Perform excavation, trenching, and slope grading according to engineering plans and specifications.
- Maintain proper compaction and grading to ensure compliance with landfill design and environmental standards.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs.
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE requirements and site-specific procedures.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and other team members to meet project timelines.
- Maintain accurate logs of work performed and equipment usage.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 3 years operating tractors, single axis dump truck, front end loaders, bull dozers, or compactors on landfill construction, road construction, environmental remediation, or similar industries.
- Experience operating dozers and excavators in construction or landfill environments.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and grade stakes.
- Strong understanding of earthmoving techniques and landfill construction requirements.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Heavy equipment operator certification or equivalent experience preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and sitting for extended periods.
- Willingness to work overtime and occasionally on Saturdays.
- Track record of adhering to safety protocols while operating equipment.

Work Environment
Projects are 100% outdoors, so candidates should be prepared to work in all weather conditions. The shift starts at 6:00 am or 6:30 am, and typically ends between 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm from Monday to Friday. Saturday work is available from 6/6:30 am to 12:00/1:00 pm. Candidates will work 10 - 15 hours of overtime per week. Saturdays are optional

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morrisonville, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
