RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, facilitate and execute engaging recreational activities for Saturday Program
- Fill in for additional Community Health Program sessions as needed
- Assist with Nibble with Willow program implementation (program site communication, food session preparation, and additional duties as needed).
- Create lesson plans activities for Saturday programming such as Art, Nutrition, and positive communication
- Assess participants' needs and interest to tailor activities accordingly.
- Perform program outreach to meet programs numbers
- Follow food safety guidelines
- Document work daily using agency and funder database
- Work closely with youth interns, Program Coordinators, and other Community Health program staff
- Assist with program set up and break down
- Provide Program Coordinator with weekly reports
- Assume responsibilities of program assistant when necessary
- Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma required
- Bachelor’s Preferred
- Previous experience working with families and children of different ages.
- Previous experience in activity planning or recreational programming, preferably in a community setting.
- Experience with program outreach
- Proficiency in English required; Bilingual preferred
- Able to walk and stand for several hours at a time.
- Able to work in all weather conditions, e.g. heat, cold, rain, sun, wind, snow.
- Provide Program Coordinator with weekly reports
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Facilitation experience in activities such as Art, Nutrition, and Positive communication preferred
- Prior experience using Microsoft suites (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
PROGRAM SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, facilitate, and execute delivery of Community Health curriculums workshops during Saturday programming and assist with Nibble with Willow
- Create weekly lesson plans for different activities to keep families engage
- Facilitate and lead activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
- Respond in a timely manner to communications from the office
- Support Program Coordinators, and other Community Health programs where needed
- Perform other duties as needed also
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- · Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
- · Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- · Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
- · Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
- · Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
- · Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
