Position: Full-Time, 5 Days per Week (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Mammography Technician to join our dedicated healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality mammographic procedures on both inpatients and outpatients, following established protocols and maintaining patient safety and comfort at all times. As a Mammography Technician, you will ensure accurate positioning and image quality while adhering to industry standards, including MQSA requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mammographic procedures on patients according to department protocols.
  • Review patient prescriptions, history questionnaires, and medical records prior to examinations to ensure proper imaging.
  • Conduct radiologic exams with attention to detail in positioning and technical factors to achieve high-quality images.
  • Practice universal precautions and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Ensure compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, including verifying patient identity using at least two identifiers.
  • Operate and process images using the PAC system, including loading external imaging and ensuring the creation of necessary orders and reports.
  • Analyze acquired images for proper positioning, markers, date stickers, and patient identification, repeating the image if necessary.
  • Maintain a respectful and supportive relationship with patients, addressing their physical and psychological needs.
  • Ensure effective communication with patients, co-workers, physicians, and other healthcare staff.
  • Assist with interventional procedures and stereotactic biopsies, if trained.
  • Perform bone density scans and accurately follow interventional procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and radiographic equipment.
  • Monitor equipment performance and promptly report any malfunctions.
  • Provide orientation and training for new employees and participate in preceptorship activities.
  • Ensure adherence to the ALARA principle for radiation protection.
  • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) tasks in compliance with MQSA guidelines.
  • Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and professional responsibility.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mammography, including screening and diagnostic procedures.
  • Proficient in performing DEXA and biopsy procedures (preferred but not required).
  • Knowledge and experience with PACS, PenRad, EMR systems, and other imaging technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including ultrasound technicians, to ensure seamless patient flow.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to follow strict protocols and maintain a high standard of care.

Required Education & Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Mammography program.
  • ARRT (R) and (M) certification.
  • New Jersey Diagnostic Radiologic Tech license, certified in Mammography.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • MQSA compliance with the requirement of 200 mammograms within a 36-month period to maintain certification.
