Job Description🧼 Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) – 13-Week Contract

Location: Hyannis, MA 02601
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Shift: Rotating days | Rotating start times (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM)
Weekends/Holidays: Rotating
Travel Criteria: Must reside 50+ miles from the facility to qualify as a travel candidate

💰 Compensation

Weekly Pay Range: $1,280 – $1,480

🩺 Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to support a busy surgical services department at a well-established healthcare facility in Hyannis, Massachusetts. This role is critical in ensuring patient safety by maintaining the highest standards of instrument decontamination, sterilization, and inventory management.

🔑 Key ResponsibilitiesDecontamination

  • Identify and apply appropriate methods and solutions for decontaminating instruments and clinical equipment

  • Sort, disassemble, decontaminate, rinse, and disinfect instruments

  • Follow proper PPE guidelines at all times

Instrument Preparation

  • Assemble instrument sets accurately using count sheets

  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality

  • Properly wrap, containerize, peel-pack, and label instrumentation

Storage & Distribution

  • Store and handle sterile supplies and equipment correctly

  • Access and follow physician preference cards

  • Retrieve, distribute, and track surgical supplies in a timely manner

Sterilization Process

  • Select appropriate sterilization methods

  • Adhere to correct sterilization practices

  • Document and verify sterilization loads and biological testing results

Equipment Operation

  • Operate SPD equipment including steam, ETO, Sterrad, and Steris I sterilizers

  • Use cart washers, washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, heat sealers, and testing devices

Inventory Control

  • Order, receive, stock, and monitor surgical supply usage

  • Communicate supply issues promptly to appropriate personnel

✅ Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Sterile Processing experience

  • CRCST – Certified Registered Central Service Technician (HSPA)

  • BLS (AHA) certification

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
