Resident Engineer/Project Manager

We are partnering with an engineering and construction services firm seeking a Resident Engineer / Project Manager to support transportation and public infrastructure projects throughout the Chicago area.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the field, leading construction execution, and acting as the key liaison between clients, contractors, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the on-site lead overseeing construction activities and daily operations
- Monitor and manage project schedules, budgets, and progress
- Supervise field staff, inspectors, and junior engineers
- Interpret and enforce plans, specifications, and contract requirements
- Manage documentation including daily reports, change orders, and pay estimates
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, agencies, and internal teams
- Identify and resolve field issues to maintain schedule and quality
- Ensure compliance with state, municipal, and project standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain)
- 8–12+ years of experience in construction management, inspection, or infrastructure projects
- Experience with transportation / public works (IDOT preferred)
- Strong understanding of construction documentation and contract administration
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
Preferred
- Experience with IDOT standards and processes
- Background in roadway, bridge, or municipal infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools
- Certifications such as NACE or equivalent inspection credentials
