Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Librarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for books, a strong commitment to customer service, and the ability to create a dynamic and engaging library experience for medical students studying in various locations.
Key Responsibilities:
JOB TITLE: Librarian
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Vice President of Administration
Coordinates with: Library assistants at both campuses, Research manager, faculty, and clinical program staff.
Functional Responsibilities:
Maintain and develop online library page and offerings
Manage user accounts for online library products
Configure, manage, and troubleshoot access to online library products
Select and purchase books for the campus library collection
Train library assistants on book organization and related services.
Promote student and faculty use of the library by postings and articles in the newsletter
Participate in the online help desk
Manage and analyze library product usage by downloading usage data
Analyze and recommend library product renewals, contracts and cancellations
Participate in the Research Committee
Provide expert advice on publishing, journal quality and analysis
Provide research articles, including search and inter-library loan services
Assist users with finding information on Library Website
Teaching Library usage by providing and managing library Moodle course
Coordinate with the Dean and Campus managers on the supervision of 5 library assistants at 2 campuses
Review library and academic products/systems for possible purchase
Ebook management and selection
Develop Library Policy documents: Collection Development, Article Request.
Assist students with all aspects of research paper and publication
Provide backup support for IT manager
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Working knowledge of medical databases and journals
- Remote access products (EZproxy), IP address management
- EBSCO admin, Moodle, Libguides, Teamviewer, WordPress
- Online book catalog systems, Academic research publication
Interpersonal Skills
- Provides and manages library services with a positive and helpful attitude
- Maintains a professional appearance and behavior
- Communicates on a regular basis with staff, students, Faculty and Administrators.
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution
- Health science library experience
- Professional medical library experience including experience in library technical services, collection development, serials, and/or cataloging and online library systems.
