Job Summary:

The Collaborating Physician will provide medical oversight and support to Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) practicing within Wesley Behavioral Health Services. The Collaborating Physician will ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and evidence-based medical care to patients with mental health and substance use disorders. This role involves chart reviews, consultations, protocol development, and ongoing collaboration with clinical staff to enhance the agencys comprehensive approach to patient care.

Essential Functions:

  • Medical Oversight:Provide ongoing medical consultation and support to NPs and PAs, ensuring adherence to established clinical protocols and best practices.
  • Chart Reviews:Conduct regular chart reviews to evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of treatment plans, medication management, and clinical documentation.
  • Collaboration and Consultation:Collaborate with NPs, PAs, therapists, and other members of the clinical team to develop integrated treatment plans that address patients' physical and mental health needs.
  • Protocol Development:Assist in the development and implementation of clinical protocols, guidelines, and policies to ensure consistency and quality of care.
  • Training and Education:Provide training and education to clinical staff on relevant medical topics, including medication management, co-occurring medical conditions, and best practices in behavioral health.
  • Quality Improvement:Participate in quality improvement initiatives to monitor and enhance the effectiveness of clinical services.
  • Compliance:Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as agency policies and procedures.
  • Emergency Consultation:Be available for consultation in the event of medical emergencies or urgent patient needs.
  • Telehealth Support:Provide support for telehealth services, including remote consultations and review of electronic health records.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification in Psychiatry, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related specialty.
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in North Carolina.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience, preferably in behavioral health or a related field.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in mental health and substance use treatment.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing medical oversight to NPs or PAs.
  • Experience in telehealth or remote patient monitoring.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and other relevant privacy regulations.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is typically performed in an office or clinical setting.
  • May require some travel to other agency sites.
  • May involve occasional on-call responsibilities.
