JOB PURPOSE

The Food Rescue Program Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing The Just One Project's mission by ensuring the efficient and safe transportation, handling, and distribution of rescued food to our community. This position is responsible for reducing food waste while directly supporting food-insecure individuals and families. Serving as a key representative of the organization, the Coordinator ensures that every delivery is carried out with care, professionalism, and a strong commitment to service, teamwork, and community impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transport goods safely, including lifting items up to 50 lbs.
  • Drive company vehicles, including box trucks, responsibly with a clean driving record.
  • Assist the Food Rescue Alliance Program Manager as needed.
  • Stand for long periods during deliveries and service.
  • Learn and apply safe food handling practices.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to fulfill a 40-hour work week.
  • Use basic computer skills for communication and documentation.
  • Follow directions promptly and effectively.
  • Any other job duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrate values consistent with the stated mission and culture of The Just One Project
  • 2+ years of professional driving experience with box trucks, vans, or other large vehicles (required)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required)
  • 1+ year of non-profit experience (preferred)
  • 2+ year of customer service experience (required)

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform sustained manual labor, including lifting, loading, and unloading materials.

WORK SCHEDULE AND EXPECTATIONS

  • This position is full time, requiring approximately 40 hours per week
  • Standard work schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM with flexibility as needed
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
  • This role is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Must attend six mandatory 'Pop Up & Give' events per year
  • Must possess valid unrestricted driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid Food Handler's Card

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to sit, use hands and fingers, talk or hear continually.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, push, pull regularly and for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch regularly.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, etc. efficiently and on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work in fast paced active environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Frequently exposed to various controlled and uncontrolled weather conditions
