Medical Front Office & Insurance Coordinator - Neurology
Starting at $19/hour
Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Medical Front Office & Insurance Coordinator with at least 2 years of neurology front desk experience. This role requires proficiency in Epic, insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and collections. You will be the first point of contact for patients and play a vital role in maintaining efficient clinic operations while ensuring a high standard of patient service and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and check-in/check-out patients in a courteous and professional manner
- Schedule appointments and manage provider calendars efficiently
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments (including neurology-specific services)
- Obtain and track prior authorizations for tests, procedures, and referrals
- Accurately enter and update patient demographics and insurance data in Epic
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claims or authorization issues
- Maintain and organize patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and route messages to appropriate departments
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow and documentation
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or medical office certification preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of front desk experience in a neurology or specialty clinic
- Proficiency in Epic EMR required
- Strong understanding of insurance verification, authorizations, and collections processes
- Familiarity with various insurance plans (PPO, HMO, Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Comp, etc.)
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and professionalism
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment
Preferred Skills:
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
- Knowledge of neurology-specific procedures and coding
