Our primary clients are single-family residential property owners, aged 35-65, with household incomes of $140k+ who live within 30 minutes of our office and are seeking to age in place. Job Summary

The Lead Carpenter is responsible for managing and executing remodeling projects while maintaining exceptional communication with clients and team members. This role involves carpentry on remodel projects, job site supervision, pre-job planning, and managing materials, schedules, and subcontractors to ensure successful project completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong carpentry expertise, building knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to lead a team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, Manage, Accountability (LMA)

  • Lead by example through professionalism, punctuality, and high-quality work.
  • Manage job site personnel and subcontractors, ensuring tasks align with project schedules, designs, and quality standards.
  • Hold team members accountable for safety protocols, cleanliness, and productivity.
  • Foster a positive, growth-focused work environment that encourages collaboration and development.

Pre-Job Planning

  • Attend sales-to-production turnover meetings to review project details and familiarize yourself with contract scope and client needs.
  • Visit project sites to assess existing conditions, review blueprints, and plan the execution of the project scope.
  • Confirm the accuracy of blueprints, material quantities, and specifications.
  • Submit RFIs and address issues or questions with the Sales and Design Team.
  • Develop initial project schedules and coordinate with the Production Supervisor for approval.

Carpentry and Job Site Management

  • Complete carpentry tasks on remodel projects as needed.
  • Oversee daily operations on job sites, ensuring workflow aligns with project schedules and quality standards.
  • Conduct inspections of work completed by team members and subcontractors.
  • Communicate with building inspectors, subcontractors, and vendors to address project requirements.
  • Create and submit daily logs and weekly project updates to the team and clients.

Team Schedule Management

  • When managing multiple projects, allocate resources and team members effectively to maintain project progress.
  • Anticipate schedule conflicts and adjust resources to meet deadlines without compromising quality.

Client Communication

  • Schedule and lead pre-construction meetings to establish client expectations prior to project kickoff.
  • Ensure daily logs with photos are uploaded every day to notify the office and client of project progress.
  • Provide weekly Buildertrend email updates to clients on project progress, addressing their questions and concerns promptly.
  • Maintain exceptional customer satisfaction through proactive communication and timely resolution of issues.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of carpentry and/or project management experience in a residential remodeling or construction environment.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift more than 50 lbs regularly and sit, kneel, or stand for extended periods.
  • Skills: Strong communication and leadership abilities. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications. Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Knowledge of construction materials and methods in all aspects of residential remodeling and building. Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Must possess a strong willingness to learn and problem solve.

Tools

  • Required on day one: 35-foot tape measure, screwdrivers, flat bar, utility knife, hammer, tool pouch, speed square, 4’ level. Skill saw, drill, impact driver, reciprocating saw.
  • To be invested in: Additional advanced tools to be invested in on an ongoing basis.
