Sales Engineer (CRM & Operations)

About the role
Benchmark Insurance Group is looking for a hands-on Sales Engineer who sits at the intersection of marketing automation, sales enablement, and day-to-day operations. Youll own our GoHighLevel (GHL) CRM, scale our website lead-gen engine, and keep the organization humming with tight documentation, smart processes, and executive support. This is a split role: ~70% growth/CRM, ~30% office & executive operations.
Growth, CRM & Automation
- GoHighLevel Mastery
- Build and maintain pipelines, automations, custom forms, and dashboards.
- Drive website-based lead capture systems generating 1,000+ leads/month with optimized routing and nurturing.
- Write scripts and logic for automated email blasts, segmented campaigns, and SMS sequences.
- n8n Automation Engineering
- Design complex workflows integrating GHL, email marketing, cloud storage, Google Workspace, and APIs.
- Replace manual tasks with automated triggers (e.g., lead enrichment, data sync, follow-up reminders, file processing).
- Build multi-step approval workflows for sales, marketing, and executive requests.
- Monitor workflows for errors and implement self-healing/retry logic.
- Cross-Platform Integrations
- Use webhooks, APIs, and n8n connectors to push/pull data between CRM, analytics tools, and internal systems.
- Automate reporting pipelines to deliver live dashboards for MQL, SQL, and closed-won metrics.
- Connect with third-party lead marketplaces and enrich leads automatically before they hit the sales queue.
Office Operations
- Serve as a split Office Manager: maintain clean data, manage files, reconcile basic books/expenses, and keep internal docs current.
- Create SOPs, quick-start guides, and tips & tricks that fix recurring issues and shorten onboarding time.
- Coordinate calendars, prepare agendas, and schedule meetings with top firms and strategic partners.
- Support the CEO with document prep, paper flow, and executive logistics.
- Run deep-dive research on new business opportunities; present pros & cons and clear recommendations.
What youll bring
- 24+ years in a growth/ops or sales-engineering role (insurance/financial services a plus).
- Proven experience in GoHighLevel (or HubSpot/ActiveCampaign/Marketo) with complex automations.
- Comfortable writing small scripts (JavaScript or Python) and working with APIs/webhooks.
- Strong grasp of email/SMS best practices and compliance.
- Process-builder mindset: documentation, SOPs, and tidy data are second nature.
- Excellent communication, scheduling, and stakeholder managementespecially with executives.
Nice to have
- Zapier/Make power-user skills
- Basic bookkeeping familiarity (e.g., expenses, receipts, simple reconciliations)
- Insurance background or familiarity with commercial lines terminology
How success is measured (first 90180 days)
- Time-to-contact under 5 minutes for new web leads
- +1525% lift in MQLSQL conversion via routing & nurture improvements
- Email deliverability >95% inbox placement; steady list growth with healthy engagement
- Reliable weekly dashboards and clean, documented SOPs adopted by the team
- CEO support: on-time briefs, well-run meetings, and actionable research memos
