Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A skilled Registered Nurse (RN) is needed to provide comprehensive health services within a K-12 school setting located in Kirtland, NM. This onsite contract position offers the opportunity to serve as Lead Nurse, supporting the health and well-being of students across multiple schools from ASAP through May 29, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise on-campus Health Aides to ensure high-quality care
- Provide first aid and manage basic health needs for students and staff
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
- Support students with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and epilepsy
- Maintain accurate documentation of health office visits, medication administration, and immunizations
- Assist with student health screenings and support IEP/504 health-related plans
- Respond promptly and effectively to health emergencies
- Collaborate with school personnel, families, and healthcare providers to facilitate student wellness
- Travel between 23 schools as part of caseload duties
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid RN license and current CPR/AED certification
- Experience working in schools or with children preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills are essential
- Ability to pass a background check and fingerprint clearance
- Willingness to travel between schools within the district
Preferred Skills:
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Navajo (Din)
- Familiarity with IEPs, individualized student care plans, and school health regulations including FERPA
