Degree in Radiologic Technology, American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Ultrasound certification, and minimum 1+ years Imaging experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity seeks a highly skilled ultrasound sonographer specializing in Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) to support a busy, high-risk obstetrics imaging practice. The role focuses on detailed fetal anatomy, growth scans, biophysical profiles, Dopplers, and high-risk pregnancy imaging within a collaborative perinatal environment. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of MFM sonography experience and ARDMS certification in OB/GYN to qualify.
Location:Positioned in Midlothian, VA, this role offers a chance to contribute to advanced maternal-fetal care in an established clinical setting. The work environment is professional and patient-focused, supporting high-risk obstetric patients with comprehensive ultrasound examinations. Flexibility to travel between two nearby medical centers is required, providing diverse clinical exposure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform specialized obstetric, fetal, and gynecologic ultrasound examinations, including fetal well-being surveillance and transvaginal cervical assessments.
- Assist Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists with ultrasound-guided invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
- Operate advanced ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper image acquisition and documentation following established safety and clinical guidelines.
- Monitor and support patients during examinations, providing education in sensitive and anxious situations.
- Maintain accurate records, manage equipment care, and support laboratory accreditation efforts.
- Collaborate on scheduling, supply inventory, and ongoing professional education to ensure high standards of care.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum two years of direct MFM sonography experience in a high-risk OB/GYN environment.
- ARDMS certification in OB/GYN required; NT or FMF certification preferred.
- Skilled in performing detailed fetal imaging, Dopplers, BPPs, and growth scans.
- Proficient with GE ultrasound machines and fetal monitoring tools.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide compassionate patient care.
- Commitment to continuing education and adherence to professional standards.
Additional Details:
- Contract position requiring professionals living outside a 50-mile radius.
- Regular schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM 4:15 PM, with potential to work up to 40 hours.
- Scrubs without branding are allowed.
- EKG exam not required.
