Job Description
We are seeking 10 -15 dependable Substitute Teachers to support classrooms serving children with autism in a small, highly supportive micro-school setting. Subs may be assigned as a Lead Teacher or Assistant Teacher based on daily needs. All substitutes must use When I Work to view and claim available shifts.
Scheduling Requirement

All substitutes are required to create a When I Work account and log in regularly to claim open jobs. Shift confirmations and updates are managed through the app.
Responsibilities

Deliver instruction and classroom support aligned to teacher plans and student IEP goals.

Maintain a structured, supportive, and safe learning environment using positive behavior strategies.

Follow individualized supports and communication strategies appropriate for autistic learners.

Collaborate with classroom staff (lead, assistant, related service providers) to ensure continuity of care.

Support arrival/dismissal, transitions, toileting/ADLs as needed, and accurate documentation of student participation.

Uphold confidentiality, student dignity, and all school policies and procedures.

Small classrooms (6–10 students) with collaborative staffing.

May require standing, moving between classrooms, assisting with student transitions, and occasional lifting or physical prompts per safety plans.
Min. Quals. (Required)

2+ years of classroom experience as a teacher or paraprofessional.

Ability to follow lesson plans, behavior supports, and safety protocols with consistency.

Strong reliability, communication, and teamwork skills.

Comfortable using mobile apps for scheduling (When I Work).
Preferred Qualifications

1+ year experience in special education.

Direct experience working with autistic or other neurodivergent learners.

Relevant certifications (state teacher certification; paraprofessional certification).
- Must pass state and federal background checks.
- Must pass a drug test.
