This position is PRN and will work on an as needed basis. Work hours will vary, but will be between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Work days will be during the work week of Monday through Friday.

About the Role:

As a Phlebotomist, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare system by collecting blood samples from patients for diagnostic testing and treatment purposes. Your expertise in venipuncture and specimen collection will ensure that samples are obtained safely and efficiently, contributing to accurate patient diagnoses. You will also be responsible for processing and labeling specimens, maintaining proper documentation, and adhering to safety protocols to ensure patient comfort and safety. Your interactions with patients will require a compassionate approach, as you will often be the first point of contact in their healthcare journey. Ultimately, your work will directly impact patient care and outcomes, making your role vital to the healthcare team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program.
  • Certification as a Phlebotomist from a recognized certifying body.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a clinical or laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and procedures.
  • Additional certifications in related areas such as CPR or first aid.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages.
  • Collect, label, and process blood specimens according to established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient information and specimen collection.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and infection control procedures.
  • Provide excellent patient care by addressing concerns and ensuring comfort during the blood collection process.

The required skills of blood drawing and venipuncture are essential for performing daily tasks effectively, ensuring that samples are collected with precision and minimal discomfort to patients. Proficiency in specimen processing techniques allows you to handle samples correctly, which is critical for accurate laboratory results.
