Landscaping Excavation Crew Member
Location: Greater Lansing Area, MI (On-Site)
Smith LawnScapes is a family-oriented landscape construction and maintenance company serving the Greater Lansing area for over 20 years. We're a true one-stop shop, handling landscaping, hardscaping, excavating, lawn applications, lawn installs, irrigation, and full snow management services in-house. We're looking for a dependable Landscaping Excavation Crew Member to support our construction and maintenance teams by safely operating equipment, assisting with installs, and keeping job sites running smoothly. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on outdoor work, takes pride in equipment care, and wants to grow within a stable company.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to operate hand tools and equipment.
- Work directly in communication with the Project Manager
- Maintain good relationships with employees and customers
- Keep jobs running smoothly and on time
- Clean, lubricate and maintain equipment
- Assist in general labor duties as needed
- Complete daily paperwork
- Ensure customer satisfaction
Qualifications
- Excavation, drainage, grading, turf and some Landscaping knowledge
- Basic measurement and calculation skills
- Ability to follow safe working procedures
- Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork orientation
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Operate equipment such as, mini excavator, skid steer, dump truck, utility tractor
- Hydro seeding, fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfill, ditching, rough grade, sub grade
- The ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Must have a valid driver's license (Class A, B or Chauffeurs)
