Job Overview
As a Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS), you will play a crucial role in assessing, developing, and implementing behavior intervention plans for individuals with various behavioral challenges. You will work closely with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and effective behavioral support services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive behavioral assessments, including functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and preference assessments, to identify the underlying causes of challenging behaviors.
- Develop individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) based on assessment results, incorporating evidence-based strategies and interventions.
- Implement behavior intervention plans and monitor their effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes for clients.
- Provide direct behavioral intervention services to clients in various settings, including homes, schools, and community environments.
- Collaborate with clients, families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure consistent implementation of behavior plans across different environments.
- Conduct regular progress reviews and data analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make data-driven decisions.
- Provide training and support to families, caregivers, and other professionals on behavior management techniques and intervention strategies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of assessments, interventions, and client progress in accordance with professional and legal standards.
- Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss client progress and collaborate on treatment planning.
- Stay current with the latest research and best practices in applied behavior analysis (ABA) and related fields.
- Supervise and mentor behavior technicians and other support staff, providing guidance and feedback on intervention implementation.
- Develop and conduct workshops and training sessions for staff, families, and community members on various behavioral topics.
- Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the organization and in the broader community.
- Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines, professional standards, and regulatory requirements in all aspects of practice.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, to provide comprehensive care for clients.
Qualifications
- Current and valid license as a Behavior Specialist in the state of practice.
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Behavior Specialist with diverse populations and age groups.
- Extensive knowledge of applied behavior analysis principles, techniques, and best practices.
- Proficiency in conducting functional behavior assessments and developing behavior intervention plans.
