Garry Executive Search has been retained by a well-established boutique Wealth Management firm in the Twin Cities to recruit a Financial Planning Specialist.
This is a role designed for a credentialed planner who enjoys technical work, high standards, and partnering closely with advisors with a clear path to grow into a senior or leadership planning role over time.
The Opportunity:
This role sits within the firm’s financial planning function and supports advisors by building and maintaining high-quality, client-ready financial plans. You’ll be heavily involved in scenario modeling, planning deliverables, and maintaining consistency across the firm’s planning process.
It’s a strong fit for a planner who wants to deepen technical expertise now, with the opportunity to expand influence and responsibility as the firm grows.
What You’ll Be Doing:
• Build and maintain comprehensive financial plans using eMoney, MoneyGuidePro, and Holistiplan
• Model planning scenarios including retirement, tax analysis, and estate planning considerations
• Prepare customized client-facing planning deliverables and analyses
• Partner with advisors to support client meetings and planning presentations
• Support and participate in Financial Planning Committee meetings and follow-ups
• Help ensure consistency and accuracy across planning deliverables
• Serve as a technical planning resource to the advisory team
• Collaborate with tax, investment, and client service teams on integrated planning strategies
Background They’re Looking For:
• CFP® or CPA® required
• Experience in financial planning or advisory support within an RIA or similar environment
• Strong technical planning foundation (cash flow, retirement modeling, tax-aware planning, estate coordination)
• Highly detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Organized, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple planning cases
• Collaborative team player who values process and quality
• Familiarity with Schwab custodial environments is a plus
Compensation & Growth Path:
Base Salary: $100,000 – $125,000
Target Total Compensation: $115,000 – $140,000 (base + incentive)
This role is intentionally designed with long-term upside. With strong performance, it can evolve into a Senior Planning Specialist or Director of Financial Planning role over time.
