Job Title: Therapy/Rehabilitation – Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (School)

Location: Houston, Texas
Duration: 42 weeks

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to support speech and language services in a school-based setting. This position serves both middle school and high school students and requires strong collaboration with Speech-Language Pathologists, educators, and support staff to help students achieve their communication goals.

Position Details

  • Split schedule between a Middle School (2.5 days/week) and a High School (2.5 days/week)
  • Student population: Middle and High School age groups
  • Collaborative caseload supported by 2–3 SLPs per campus
  • District prioritizes manageable caseloads and balanced workloads

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Speech-Language Pathologists in implementing speech and language treatment plans.
  • Provide direct therapy services under the supervision of a licensed SLP.
  • Support students with communication, language, articulation, and related speech disorders.
  • Communicate effectively with students using American Sign Language (ASL) as needed.
  • Document student progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families to support student success.
  • Prepare therapy materials and assist with screenings, evaluations, and treatment activities.
  • Adhere to district policies, state regulations, and professional standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required. Candidates must be able to communicate fluently and hold conversations using ASL.
  • Must hold a valid Texas SLPA license or be actively in the process of obtaining Texas licensure.
  • Ability to work effectively with middle and high school students.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary educational team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous school-based experience.
  • Experience working with deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
  • Knowledge of special education services and educational environments.
