onsite Pomona, CA 5 days per week. Mexacali travel 20-25% in Mexico.
Our client is looking to add a Controls Engineer to its talented staff. The qualified candidate will have a demonstrated ability to develop and implement HMI-ignition platforms. The position will focus on the development and implementation of projects utilizing Ignition. The ideal candidate will have experience managing projects and teams as well as seeing projects through completion from start to finish with there R&D team. Typical projects will be to develop robotic material handling systems for industrial automation.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Experience programming and configuring multiple PLC and HMI platforms • Experience with scripting languages and database development • Proven expertise with experience with Ignition . We are looking for someone who has 2 to 3 years’ experience in following areas Must have Vision System – Cognex Insight Explorer and/or Vision Pro experience.
Controls Engineer (2–3 Years Experience)
? Basic Qualification & Background
- Can you briefly describe your experience working as a Controls Engineer, including the types of projects you’ve supported?
- How many years of hands-on experience do you have with PLC and HMI programming in a manufacturing environment?
- Are you currently located in or open to working onsite in a manufacturing facility?
?? Technical Skills – PLC / HMI / Automation
- What experience do you have with Allen Bradley PLCs and HMI platforms? Can you describe specific projects where you used them?
- Have you worked with the Ignition platform for HMI/SCADA development? If so, what kind of systems or applications have you built?
- Can you walk me through your experience programming and configuring multiple PLC or HMI platforms?
- What scripting languages have you used (e.g., Python, SQL, JavaScript) in automation or HMI development?
- Do you have any experience with database integration in industrial automation systems? Please describe.
? Robotics & Vision Systems
- Have you worked with robotic systems in manufacturing? If yes, what type of robotic applications or material handling systems were involved?
- Do you have experience with Vision Systems such as Cognex Insight Explorer or VisionPro? Can you describe your level of involvement?
? Project Experience & Execution
- Can you describe a project where you were involved from concept through implementation and final delivery?
- How do you manage multiple projects or priorities, especially when working with engineering and R&D teams?
- Have you worked directly on production support or troubleshooting on the plant floor? Can you give an example?
? Team & Communication
- Have you ever led or coordinated with a small engineering team? What was your role?
- How do you communicate technical issues or project updates to cross-functional teams (e.g., operators, managers, R&D)?
? Onsite Work & Travel
- Are you comfortable working onsite in a manufacturing environment on a daily basis?
- Are you open to occasional travel (1–2 times per year) if required?
