We are seeking Inspection Technicians who are responsible for performing periodic facility inspections and surveys on utility-owned gas meters. The role requires a valid driver's license and the ability to operate in various weather conditions. This entry-level position emphasizes reliability and professionalism as technicians will enter customers' homes.
Responsibilities
- Perform periodic facility inspections and surveys on utility-owned gas meters.
- Complete all necessary documentation.
- Ensure readings and records comply with all company and regulatory requirements.
- Support the successful completion of regulatory audits and inspections.
- Conduct integrity surveys, including direct assessments and close interval surveys.
- Perform audit reviews with operations and support during audits.
Essential Skills
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Ability to walk, climb stairs, and ladders for an 8-hour workday.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of mathematics, algebra, and mechanical aptitude.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 1+ year of driving experience.
- Interface with technical services, government agencies, and emergency planning committees.
- Previous experience in customer service, mechanical, or inspection roles is a plus.

Work Environment
This is a 100% field-based position requiring flexibility to travel within the utility territory, primarily in Brooklyn and Queens. Training includes OSHA orientation, classroom instruction, and field job shadowing. Operations hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, with potential Saturday shifts at the supervisor's request. Technicians will receive equipment such as a simple tool set, flashlight, gas detector, field binder for paperwork, ID badges, tools/tool belt, handheld tablet, and safety attire including FR shirts, pants, safety vest, and hard hat.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
