Vivo HealthStaff is recruiting for a Pediatric ICU Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in San Francisco, California. This is a full-time, 6-month contract assignment at a children's hospital.
We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider to provide high-acuity care in both the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and the Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP) at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. This role involves direct patient care in a hospital setting, working 12-hour shifts with no call responsibilities.

Pay Structure: 12 hours of pay per shift with an expected 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Practice Setting:

Hospital: Pediatric Hospital

Department: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP)

EMR: EPIC

Hospital Bed Size: 16-20 beds
Patient Population:
-
Pediatric patients of various complexity levels
-
PICU: Continuous monitoring of critically ill children post-surgery and trauma
-
TCUP: Post-surgical care and non-invasive ventilation support (e.g., BIPAP, CPAP, HFNC)
Patient Ratios:
-
PICU Days (Mon-Fri): 5:1
-
PICU Weekends: 7:1
-
PICU Nights: 10:1
-
TCUP Days: 5-8:1
-
TCUP Nights: 16:1
Key Responsibilities:
-
Manage pediatric patients with moderate to critical conditions
-
Provide acute interventions, respiratory support management, and post-transplant care
-
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary care teams
-
Document clinical assessments and care plans accurately in EPIC
-
Participate in signout rounds and team communications
Requirements:
-
Active California NP or PA license
-
Pediatric Advanced Practice Certification preferred
-
Minimum of two (2) years of PICU or Pediatric Critical Care experience
-
Current BLS and PALS certifications
-
Experience with high-acuity pediatric populations strongly preferred
-
Ability to work 12-hour shifts including nights and weekends
