Healthcare Sales Representative (Contract, Remote, U.S. based)
Job Description
About Type
\n
Type makes bags for healthcare workers. It was founded by a physician in New York City, out of a simple observation: clinicians are on their feet all day carrying things, and almost nothing made for them is worth carrying.
\n
\n
Our Type A belt bag retails at $72. An academic medical center in New York bought it for their residents and came back and bought again and again...and again. We sell direct, through independent retail, and we've built the wholesale pricing and line sheet for a gift shop distributor channel we're now opening. We're hiring one person to own the institutional side of that, end to end.
\n
\n
The role (Full or Part-Time)
\n
You'll build and close a book of bulk buyers across US healthcare: graduate medical education offices, hospital nursing and employee recognition programs, physician wellness budgets, hospital gift shops and their distributors, and — as fill-in volume — physical therapy and veterinary practices.
\n
This is full-cycle, and you're not starting from a blank page. We hand you built prospect lists, an active outreach program already running against residency programs, live accounts including a repeat institutional buyer, and a wholesale line sheet with the pricing tiers already set. Your job is to work that pipeline, extend it, and close — you pitch, you quote, you close, you own the reorder. The founder handles product, pricing exceptions, and fulfillment. You don't have to hand deals off to anyone (unless you want to).
\n
\n
What you'll actually do
\n
- \n
- Work and expand our existing prospect lists — GME offices, nursing professional development departments, employee experience teams, and gift shop buyers across U.S. health systems
- Take over an outreach program for residency programs, and scale it across email, LinkedIn, and phone
- Work the healthcare gifting calendar: Match Day (March 19, 2027) and National Nurses Week (May 6–12), residency graduation in late June, National Physical Therapy Month (October), National Veterinary Technician Week (Oct 17–23), and end-of-year holiday gifting
- Quote and close orders from a 50-unit minimum up to thousands of units
- Attend one or two trade shows a year (nursing, GME, or veterinary) — travel is covered
- Report bi-weekly on pipeline, closed units, and what objections you're hearing
\n

\n
What we're looking for
\n
- \n
- 2+ years selling a physical product to healthcare institutions (B2B, full cycle)
- Experience selling into healthcare institutions, or into gift and giftware buyers — hospital gift shops, corporate gifting, employee recognition, awards, or a manufacturer's rep line
- You're comfortable owning a channel rather than a slice of one — you'll have lists, accounts, and a founder who answers immediately, and you'll be the one deciding where the effort goes
- You can write an email that a chief resident or a GME coordinator actually opens
- US-based, remote (part-time applicants welcome)
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
What matters less than you'd think
\n
- \n
- A degree in anything specific
- Experience with our exact category
- Enterprise SaaS sales experience — the deal sizes and cycles here are different and the habits don't transfer well
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Compensation
\n
- \n
- Up to $2,000/month base salary, paid as a 1099 contractor (based on experience)
- 10% commission on collected revenue
- Bonus structure available
- Travel to approved trade shows covered
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Six-month initial term with a performance review at 90 days, renewed on performance.
\n
The thing worth understanding about this territory: the healthcare gifting calendar repeats. A GME office that buys for its incoming interns this July buys again next July, and every July after. Nurses Week comes every May whether or not anyone plans for it. An account you close once is an account that reorders annually on a date you already know — so the book you build in year one is the book you get paid on in year two.
\n
\n
What you get on day one
\n
- \n
- Built prospect lists across residency programs, health systems, and gifting buyers — yours to work and to grow
- An outreach program already running against residency programs, with the sequences and messaging written
- 3+ live accounts handed over
- The wholesale line sheet, with pricing and volume tiers already set
- Sample bags to ship to prospects
- A @carrytype.com address and a CRM seat

To apply

Send a short note answering three things: (1) the most similar thing you've sold and roughly what your order sizes were, (2) how you'd get a first meeting with the GME office at a large medical center (3) if you have any experience with hospital / healthcare gift shops, healthcare chains, etc.
