Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania
Shift: NOC – 12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: Full-time | 36 hours per week | 3x12-hour shifts including every other weekend and holiday
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our healthcare team. The RRT will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering respiratory care services while ensuring the highest quality of patient experience. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical expertise, preferably with NICU experience, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and establish individualized care plans.
- Administer and document therapeutic modalities such as aerosolized medications, secretion management, pulmonary volume expansion, and oxygen therapy.
- Manage and initiate both conventional and high-frequency ventilators per protocol.
- Provide acute airway management in emergent situations.
- Assist with intra-hospital transport of ventilated patients.
- Set up and manage non-invasive monitoring (ETCO₂, pulse oximetry, etc.).
- Collect and process arterial blood gas samples.
- Assist medical team with bronchoscopy, invasive monitoring line placement, and hemodynamic measurements.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory disease management.
- Function as Shift Coordinator (Charge Therapist) when designated.
- Precept and mentor students and new staff members.
- Adhere to HIPAA, regulatory requirements, and institutional safety standards.
Requirements
- Education: Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Licensure: Active PA State License – Required.
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA) – Required
- ACLS – Required
- PALS – Required
- NRP – Preferred
- NBRC RRT Certification – Required
- S.T.A.B.L.E Certification – Preferred
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience – Required
- NICU experience – Preferred
