Temp-to-Perm Chief Compliance Officer

Job Description

Major, Lindsey & Africa’s non-profit client seeks an Chief Compliance Officer with a background in compliance leadership for similar organizations. The role is temporary, with potential for permanent hire.

Position Title: Chief Compliance Officer, T-P

Company: Nonprofit, and politically active advocacy group

Location: Remote - Client is based in Fairfax, Virginia and candidates close to that proximity will receive preference.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the Association’s compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements, these Bylaws, and the Association’s policies and procedures.
• Verify that compliance programs at the Association are sufficient for identifying, preventing, detecting, and reporting noncompliance, and that such programs provide effective and efficient operations.
• Verify that internal controls are in-place in connection with the preparation and presentation of the client's financial reports.
• Other duties may be assigned from time to time by the Board of Directors and to such committees as may be appropriate.

Qualifications:

• Leadership within compliance functions, including previous roles as Chief Compliance Officer or senior-level positions in risk, ethics, or regulatory affairs
• Experience developing, implementing, and overseeing enterprise-wide regulatory compliance programs aligned with U.S. federal, state, and nonprofit-specific regulations
• Background in corporate governance, with a track record of advising executive teams and boards on organizational integrity, accountability, and transparency
• Experience collaborating with legal, advocacy, or policy teams to navigate complex political and regulatory landscapes; J.D. preferred but not required
• Prior experience with legal risk management, ideally within politically active, advocacy-based, or issue-driven organizations

Pay Rate: $100
