About the Role
Our client in the Indianapolis area is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with hands-on experience using ERP systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys owning end-to-end accounting tasks, and is looking for a long-term opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily accounting operations within the ERP system
- Prepare and post journal entries; assist with general ledger maintenance
- Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other financial schedules
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as needed
- Compile reports, analyze variances, and support audits
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies
- Maintain accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality across all accounting functions
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of Staff Accountant experience
- Experience working within an ERP platform (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar)
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles
- Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, formulas)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or similar environments (if you want, I can tailor this closer to the client industry)
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
