Director of Finance
Executive Leadership Team

Status: Full-Time
Lead Strategy, People, and Operations
Are you a strategic leader with a passion for finance, human resources, and organizational excellence? This role oversees critical administrative functions that drive the success of the entire agency and leads all financial activity including accounting, financial analysis, cash operations, revenue audit, purchasing, and compliance. This role oversees the timely preparation and analysis of the financial results and maintains the necessary internal controls to ensure integrity and compliance with state and federal regulations. This role works with leadership to manage maintenance and project capital and to obtain approvals, as necessary. This role provides financial analysis and decision support to our leadership team and develops financial forecasts and actions to achieve the forecasts.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Leadership and Management of Finance Team by
- Supervising and directing the day-to-day operations of staff
- Provide guidance, counseling, and training to ensure team members perform their duties effectively and efficiently and meet compliance and reporting expectations
- Serves as a leader for team members while fostering teamwork, positive morale, motivation, and open communication.
- Maintains interpersonal working relationships with leaders and Board
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment by setting clear expectations and providing ongoing support for team members.
- Provide real-time feedback, conduct regular check-ins, and implement plans to continuously enhance team capabilities.
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Lead the development of operational and financial analytics and models for long-term financial forecasting.
- Lead monthly analysis of actual financial results and the development of monthly forecast updates.
- Develop the annual operating plan with capital forecasts with plans to achieve efficient and effective capital spending.
Accounting And Financial Controls:
- Oversee accounting, financial reporting, and purchasing processes
- Ensure the team is utilizing current accounting standards, tools, and technologies to improve efficiency and timeliness in financial analysis.
- Develop, implement, and monitor controls over accounting
- Manage external and internal audits to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of state and local regulatory requirements relevant to areas of responsibility and collaborate with regulatory authorities.
- Refine financial and operating processes to drive consistent performance and accountability across operational departments.
- Review departmental financial statements with operational leaders to identify inefficiencies, concerns, and performance enhancements.
- Work with the leadership to drive continuous operational improvements
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required
- Masters degree and/or CPA preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, and analysis, and at least 2 years of experience managing a financial department.
- Experience leading and managing a team with a track record of success.
