Job Description
Seeking a flexible, part-time Labeling Specialist to support food safety and quality initiatives. This role requires expertise in package labeling within consumer packaged goods, preferably human or pet food. Candidates will work 16–24 hours/week during first-shift hours with a remote option available. The role focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance, labeling accuracy, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret and apply FDA and USDA labeling regulations and internal policies
- Develop and maintain accurate food labeling data including allergens, nutrition facts, ingredient statements, and claims
- Review and approve packaging artwork, graphics, and label content for compliance and accuracy
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Operations teams on labeling projects
- Ensure compliance with third-party certifications (Non-GMO, GFCO) and regional regulations
- Prepare and submit regulatory documentation and support audits
- Manage labeling-related risks including regulatory, food safety, and brand compliance
- Support responses to consumer and customer labeling inquiries
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in food labeling or regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge of FDA/USDA regulations and CPG labeling standards
- Proficiency in labeling systems, databases, and MS Office tools
- Experience with artwork review and packaging compliance processes
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
