Sr. Product Development Engineer – IPG/Lead
Contract-to-Hire (open to direct hire)
Pay: $50-100/hr.

Job Summary

The Sr. Product Development Engineer will design and develop new active implantable products (IPGs or leads) and/or modify existing ones. This role will lead technical execution of development projects within cross-functional teams, with an emphasis on lead development from concept through full production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new products per customer specifications and applicable standards.

  • Develop product requirements, specifications, and test methods to verify design compliance.

  • Perform design modeling, tooling and test equipment design, and data analysis to guide decisions.

  • Manage day-to-day project execution, providing technical direction and problem-solving support.

  • Lead technical reviews and cross-functional collaboration across Product Development, Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing.

  • Support new production processes and product launches, ensuring adherence to design, safety, and quality standards.

  • Prepare and maintain project plans, schedules, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience).

  • 5–30 years of product development experience in the medical device industry, ideally with neuro/cardiac leads or active implantable systems.

  • Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred); capable of fixture design and assembly manipulation.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and drive results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of machining and assembly practices (plastics/metals) and familiarity with human anatomy preferred.

  • Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged computer work; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.

  • Use of standard PPE (gown, gloves, ear/eye protection) in applicable environments.
