- Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)\n
- Hours per Week: 36\n
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, including every 3rd weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)\n
- Holiday Requirement: None\n
- Floating: Rare (post-partum only)\n
- Dress Code: Hospital-issued surgical scrubs\n
- Orientation: 1 day on the floor, 1 day in the OR (day shift)\n
\n\nRegistered Nurse Qualifications\n
- \n
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience\n
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse license\n
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)\n
- NRP certification\n
- Basic Fetal Monitoring competency within the last 2 years\n
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred\n
\n\nLabor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities\n
- \n
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients and newborns\n
- Perform and document Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM), including interpretation\n
- Utilize fetal scalp electrodes and intrauterine pressure catheters (IUPC)\n
- Operate IV pumps, infusion devices, and epidural infusion pumps\n
- Monitor maternal vital signs and conduct newborn assessments\n
- Respond to obstetric emergencies using hemorrhage carts and code carts\n
- Perform bedside point-of-care testing (glucose, urine, etc.)\n
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including OB techs and clinical support staff\n
