We are located in Santa Barbara, CA, and are looking to hire a full-time Material Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an organized and detail-oriented individual who has material handling and inventory control experience in a manufacturing environment.
Material Coordinator Job Summary: The Material Coordinator assists in managing the efficient and timely supply of materials required for production. This role involves forecasting demand, managing inventory levels, processing material requests, and coordinating with internal departments to ensure production schedules are met without interruption.
Material Coordinator Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain material requirement plans based on production schedules and forecasts.
- Monitor material inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock.
- Issue material requests (MRs) and follow up on orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinates the movement of materials between stockrooms, production areas, and suppliers.
- Complete data entry tasks and maintain accurate data of stockroom inventory in the inventory system and ERP system.
- Analyze material usage and adjust plans as needed based on changes in demand and production.
- Communicate with purchasing to track shipments and resolve delays.
- Perform cycle counts, physical inventory, and reconciliation of discrepancies.
- Collaborate with project managers and buyers to forecast material needs.
- Ensure materials are stored properly and comply with safety and quality standards.
- Generate reports on inventory status, material usage, and procurement lead times.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory and materials flow.
Skills Required:
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and email.
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Education/Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in materials coordination, inventory control, or a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in quality control inspections, dimensional measurements, and working with Quality Management Systems (QMS) is preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. College degree or technical training in business, supply chain management, logistics, manufacturing or another related field a plus.
- Experience working with an ERP software program.
- Inventory Management experience a plus.
