Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist in Charge experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An immediate opportunity is available for an Interim Pharmacist in Charge/Director of Pharmacy to support a behavioral health inpatient facility in Columbia, MO. This contract position offers a chance to lead pharmacy operations and ensure seamless medication management during the transition to permanent staffing.
Location: Columbia, MO
Setting: Inpatient Behavioral Health
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid meal break
Assignment Start: April 29, with two days of cross-training, followed by independent work starting May 1
Duration: Until permanent hire is onboarded
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations as the Pharmacist in Charge, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
- Manage medication dispensing, including inpatient and outpatient hospital RX processes
- Supervise pharmacy staff and coordinate with clinical teams to optimize medication therapy outcomes
- Conduct drug repackaging using systems such as Milt/Medi-dose or HCL as needed
- Load medications into automated dispensing machines and generate restock reports to maintain inventory accuracy
- Utilize Omnicell software to manage pharmacy workflow and medication distribution
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active Missouri Pharmacist License
- Proven experience as a Pharmacist in Charge, preferably in an inpatient behavioral health or hospital setting
- Familiarity with Omnicell and automated dispensing systems
- Competency in medication repackaging and inventory management
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
