Job Description

About TargetMarket

TargetMarket is a Charleston-based marketing agency built around how buyers actually behave now. They research with AI, compare in private, and click less than ever, and we build the strategy, content, and infrastructure that wins them anyway. We work with clients in healthcare, nonprofits, real estate, home services, and beyond organizing our work around four pillars: brand awareness, zero-click marketing, storytelling, and data-driven ad campaigns.

The Role

We’re hiring a Senior Account Manager to lead our highest-touch client relationships. You’ll handle strategy, delivery, quality control, and account growth. This is a player-coach role. You’ll be the strategic voice clients lean on, the final approval before work ships, and someone who produces deliverables directly when that’s the right call.

If your current account manager role feels like shuffling tickets between clients and creatives, this role asks for more. You’ll bring strategy into client conversations, give direction to the team producing the work, and ship deliverables yourself when it makes sense.

What You'll Do

  • Client relationships. You’ll be the primary point of contact on a portfolio of retainer accounts, building trust with senior stakeholders and positioning TargetMarket as a strategic partner. You’ll lead recurring strategy conversations, surface opportunities proactively, and grow accounts by deepening the value we provide them.
  • Quality and approvals. Client-facing work routes through you for review before it ships. That includes content calendars, social deliverables, campaign assets, and web work.
  • Direction to the team. You’ll give creative and strategic direction to social media managers, content creators, and other producers. You set the brief and the quality bar, even though they don’t report to you directly.
  • Hands-on production. When it’s the fastest path, you’ll produce yourself: strategy docs, client-facing decks, briefs, content calendars, copy (web, email, ad), and light WordPress/Webflow edits on landing pages and client sites.
  • Account economics. You’ll track time and scope against retainer budgets, flag drift early, and protect client value alongside agency margin. Cost accounting on retainer work is part of the role.
  • Timelines. You’ll manage delivery schedules across multiple accounts and keep clients informed when things shift.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years in account management at an agency environment, with direct senior client communication and primary responsibility for retained relationships.
  • Strategic thinking. You bring ideas to client meetings that clients didn’t ask for and find useful.
  • AI fluency in your daily work. You use AI tools (Claude Cowork primary) regularly to sharpen thinking and produce work faster. This is how the agency operates.
  • Working knowledge of AI-era search. You can explain AEO, agentic UX, and zero-click search to clients and connect them to marketing decisions.
  • Hands-on production skills. WordPress & Webflow (page edits, basic layout, plugin-level familiarity), light Adobe suite, and client-ready writing across formats.
  • Project management discipline. Strong working knowledge of Asana or comparable systems.
  • Time and scope tracking. You watch effort against retainer scope and surface risks before they become problems.
  • Digital marketing fundamentals. Working knowledge across paid media, content, SEO, social, and web, enough to direct specialists and assess their work.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary range: $90,000–$110,000, based on experience. Benefits include health, dental, vision, and 401(k) match.
