Position Title: Senior Director, Individual Giving

Location: Hybrid Washington DC / Remote Capable (NYC, SFO preferred)
Job Summary & Key Priorities
The Senior Director of Individual Giving will provide strategic oversight of the Individual Giving program at Active MInds, leading discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual contributors to the work of Active Minds. Specifically, the Senior Director of Individual Giving will be the lead fundraiser for major gifts ($10,000+), establish and drive forward a multi-year growth strategy for leadership giving ($100,000+), and will manage a team responsible for our mid-level and annual fund individual giving programs and the critical operational and stewardship functions for the Development team. The Senior Director of Individual Giving will also support relationships managed by the CDO and Executive Director, advancing cultivation strategies for all individual donor relationships. Joining peer leaders overseeing Corporate & Foundation Relations and Community Fundraising & Events respectively, the Senior Director of Individual Giving will report to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), and be instrumental in widening our base of individual giving support, and advancing our mission in line with our organizational values.

Key Results
Revenue Generation (50%)
- Develop and implement a growth strategy for major gift giving with a multi-year focus on ultra-high net worth donor relationship building, with close partnership from CDO and Executive Director.
- Maintain a portfolio of major individual donors, cultivating relationships with high-level philanthropists and committed contributors.
- Draft and design compelling proposals that advance our Strategic Plan and org vision, with collaboration from peers in Programs and Marketing & Communications teams.
Strategic Leadership, Individual Giving (40%)
- Enhance and lead an organization-wide strategy for individual giving to meet or exceed annual individual giving revenue goals of $1.5 million.
- Develop and advance a purposeful moves management process to guide individual donor relationship managers, including portfolio support to the Executive Director and CDO.
- Mentor, train, and coach a Development Manager, accountable for individual giving revenue goals for contributions <$10,000, developing skills, expertise, and capacity.
- Supervise a Manager, Development Operations, and through them be accountable for clean and thorough data management and a thoughtful and timely donor stewardship program, as well as process and policy improvement and documentation.
Organizational Management (10%)
- Serve as a member of Active Minds Leadership team, contributing to cross-team communication and collaboration, operationalizing decisions and organizational direction.
- Represent Active Minds externally as needed at conferences, meetings, trainings, and other events, at the discretion of the CDO, traveling up to 20% of the time.
- Participate fully in Active Minds’ Equity & Inclusion work, including Professional Learning Communities on and continuing personal growth and knowledge gaining.
- Participate in organization-wide miscellaneous duties as needed.

- Willing to travel up to 20% of the time.
You need to have:
- 10+ years related experience in a nonprofit development environment, or a high level of transferable experience.
- Experience in team management, including managing toward metrics- and data-informed growth.
- Demonstrated success in soliciting gifts of $100,000+
- Fully digital literate, including Microsoft & Google products, and online meeting tools.
- Experience with Salesforce and/or other Development databases.

Compensation
The starting salary range for this position is $113,400-$141,750, along with robust benefits, equal to others at the same level throughout the organization. Candidates whose experience meets both the minimum and preferred qualifications may be considered for a starting salary that exceeds the current amount. The role sits within Active Minds Level 6 salary band and has the potential to grow to $162,000 over time. FLSA Status: Exempt.
