Position Summary
The Barback plays a critical support role within the bar and service team by ensuring the bar and bar service areas are fully stocked, clean, and running efficiently. This role requires a high attention to detail, a strong sense of urgency, and an unwavering commitment to cleanliness and service standards. The ideal candidate contributes to a seamless guest experience through teamwork, preparedness, and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
The following outlines the primary duties and expectations of the Barback role. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list; responsibilities may evolve or expand based on the needs of the business.
Bar & Service Support
Assist bartenders with stocking, restocking, and organizing all bar tools, glassware, garnishes, ice, and other supplies.
Replenish ice, replace beer kegs, and restock beer, wine, and other beverage items as needed.
Maintain and stock bar supplies including napkins, cups, condiments, and drinkware.
Prepare garnishes required for cocktails and ensure readiness of coffee and beverage stations.
Pour wine and beer as directed and in accordance with service standards.
Support service team by refilling water and clearing tables promptly.
Cleanliness & Sanitation
Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness across all guest-facing and service areas including tables, chairs, countertops, shelves, and bar stools.
Dispose of trash from the bar and service areas regularly and appropriately.
Perform all opening, running, and closing side work duties.
Wash, polish, and restock glasses and other bar equipment throughout the shift.
Ensure bus stations are cleaned, restocked, and reset at the end of service.
Table Maintenance & Guest Readiness
Set up and maintain table settings per design standards.
Clear and reset tables before, during, and after service, ensuring guest readiness at all times.
Monitor and maintain guest areas to meet cleanliness and service expectations.
Team & Culture
Uphold personal hygiene and sanitation standards (e.g., handwashing, uniform cleanliness).
Demonstrate a consistent team first attitude by assisting coworkers and leadership as needed.
Attend all required meetings, training, workshops, or seminars.
Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and service standards.
Promptly report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Manager on Duty (MOD).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Expectations
Previous experience in a high-volume bar or restaurant setting is preferred.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to work quickly, stay organized, and maintain a clean workspace under pressure.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Must maintain a professional, clean, and polished appearance in accordance with uniform standards.
