Job Description Join Symbotic as the Engineer who keeps our robotic warehouses humming

Time type: Full time

Schedule: Sunday–Tuesday and every other Wednesday, 5:00 p.m.–5:00 a.m.

Travel & onboarding: 10–16 weeks of mandatory travel for training; after training, no travel is expected.

A day (or night) in this role

As the Electromechanical expert in our system control center, you’ll begin each shift by surveying fleet health across automated adapters, vertical lifts, and robotic vehicles. You’ll spot anomalies early, coordinate with cross‑functional partners, and guide the operation back to peak performance. When something goes wrong, you’ll lead root-cause analysis, document findings for engineering, and implement fixes—then translate the technical details into clear updates for site teams and customers. You’ll coach operators on the full ecosystem—automation equipment, WMS, and supporting IT—and step in to backfill key on‑site roles when needed. Above all, you’ll champion continuous improvement and strict safety standards every single shift.

You’ll be part of Customer Operations—the group that runs the day‑to‑day at Symbotic sites and partners closely with onsite customers to deliver best‑in‑class quality, safety, and system performance.

What you’ll tackle

  • Continuously monitor the health of automated adapters, vertical lifts, and robotic vehicles
  • Own advanced troubleshooting for system and operational issues
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to site teams and customers
  • Document, report, and collaborate with engineering on solutions
  • Train and assist operators on automation, WMS, and related IT topics
  • Backfill key Symbotic on‑site roles as needed
  • Partner closely with customers and internal/external stakeholders
  • Escalate to support teams to resolve production‑impacting problems
  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement across the warehouse automation solution
  • Uphold OSHA, Symbotic, and customer safety processes and procedures

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical/Software/Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years working with automated systems
  • Experience (and eagerness to learn) with PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens), robots (ABB), and software such as SQL, Linux, and Python
  • Hands‑on skill assembling, operating, and troubleshooting robotics and electromechanical systems
  • Composure under pressure with shifting priorities
  • Curiosity, teamwork, and a high sense of urgency

Work environment & physical expectations

  • Valid driver’s license; able to drive and/or fly to client/customer locations
  • Own a credit card and submit expenses bi‑weekly for reimbursement
  • Frequent walking and reaching with hands/arms
  • Routinely work at heights up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches; ability to stand, climb/balance, and stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including Lockout/Tagout and fall protection
  • Wear appropriate PPE (e.g., hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eye/ear protection, fall protection) when required, including on construction sites
  • Climb steep stairs to access the structure; routinely navigate stairs within the automation
  • Work near railings that are high off the ground
  • Work indoors with exposure to temperature variation from 105&degree; to 32&degree; Fahrenheit

Compensation & benefits

The base range for this position in the posted location is $71,000.00–$97,900.00; actual base pay may vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO, and other benefits.
