The Director of Fabrication oversees and manages the steel fabrication processes across multiple fabrication sectors, focusing on overall strategy, process design and standardization across facilities. This role requires a strategic leader responsible for driving operational excellence, fostering a culture of safety and excellence in customer service, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The Director will evaluate current-state operations, optimize facility capacity and equipment utilization, and build scalable manufacturing models aligned with organizational growth initiatives. This position is based in St. Peters, MO and requires up to 25% travel to additional Trinity Products locations in Bensalem, PA and Kansas City, KS.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance fabrication efficiency and productivity across assigned fabrication facilities.
- Analyze operational performance metrics, (KPI’s) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Proactively manage shop capacities, schedule forecasting, inventory levels, and equipment utilization across multiple fab shop locations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery of products and services.
- Provide regular reports to senior leadership on fabrication performance metrics.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, aligning departmental goals with the organization’s strategic vision.
- Foster an environment of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Promote a culture centered around exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
- Ensure on-time delivery of products while maintaining quality standards.
- Maintain systems that track fabrication capacity, labor availability, material needs, and inventory.
- Manage the operational budget for fabrication across multiple facilities, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency.
- Ensure all fabrication processes comply with industry regulations and safety standards.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven progressive experience in manufacturing/fabrication management, including experience with welding, forming and structural fabrication.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication standards, leadership abilities, and data-driven decision-making.
- Minimum of 10 years in operations management, preferably in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with the heavy civil industry and steel pipe products is a plus.
- Strong leadership and analytical skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Applied knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and lean manufacturing.
- Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset.
- Knowledge of project management systems, ability to schedule and efficiently develop, analyze, and manage costs, track changes and documentation.
- Strong relationship management, strategy development, problem solving, and change management skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate towards achieving operational excellence.
