Senior Collector
As our Senior Collector, you will:
- Follow up on delinquent accounts to secure a resolution for repayment. Present a positive Credit Union image in a negative situation, while working toward a permanent solution, maintaining confidentiality.
- Maintain and monitor consistent records, files, and reports.
- Maintain a delinquency and net charge off ratio that meets management standards.
- File bankruptcy claims and coordinate with attorneys on legal action. Maintain a daily record of all bankruptcy related issues, including flagging accounts and making accurate timely notations of communications received.
- Assist with extensions of due dates, work outs, consolidations and repossessions, and prepare the appropriate paperwork for each.
- Interface with outside collection agents. Ensure all notices are sent in a timely manner. Professionally write collection letters, make telephone calls, and meet with people face to face.
- Continue to collect on charged off accounts.
- Act as back up to Collection specialist position to make early contact with member(s) to inform them of delinquent status, when needed
- Monitor loans for adequate insurance coverage on collateralized loans that fall delinquent.
- Complete required reports and documents promptly and accurately.
- Keep informed of changes in collection policies, procedures and related legal requirements. Participates in cross-training by training others and learning their tasks to enable job rotation within the department. Attends seminars and training as required.
- Develop relationships with other financial institutions to share information that can help in minimizing Credit Union losses.
- Assist in maintaining compliance, procedural, and operating manuals.
- Back up to Loan Servicing Manager when they are unavailable.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience
- Two years of recent collection experience, including bankruptcy, legal, and collateral repossessions, in a full service financial institution.
- Working knowledge of lending and collection procedures related to laws and regulations
- Proficient in computer applications associated with the job
- Capable of exercising ethical, tact and sound judgment
- Excellent communication and personal skills
- Able to work without close supervision and independently

Hours:
Mon - Fri 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM; rotating Sat 8:30 AM to 1:15 PM and 6:00pm closing shift.
