PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Harmon Electric is seeking a motivated Safety Supervisor to support and promote a positive, proactive safety culture across the organization. They must be open-minded to our Family-Owned Business structure and culture, and eager to learn how Harmon Electric does business. The Safety Supervisor will work closely with the HR Director to ensure compliance with corporate safety standards and maintain rigorous administrative systems to track and document safety activities, while also mentoring and coaching employees on safe practices in the field. They should also be creative and inquisitive – asking questions is a must!
This is a boots-on-the-ground role, actively partnering with field teams to model, teach, and reinforce safe practices on active jobsites. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who sets the tone by example and works collaboratively with both office and field teams to reinforce a culture of accountability, teamwork, and care for one another’s well-being.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
LEADERSHIP & CULTURE BUILDING
- Support and reinforce the company’s safety vision in alignment with policies, OSHA and state regulations.
- Lead by example, always modeling safe practices—including safe driving such as not speeding.
- Maintain a visible presence in the field, working alongside crews to build trust and credibility.
- Promote a positive, team-oriented approach to safety and compliance.
- Mentor employees on safe practices and encourage continuous learning and improvement.
- Foster open communication, ensuring employees feel comfortable reporting hazards or concerns without fear of retaliation.
COMPLIANCE & RISK MANAGEMENT
- Assist the HR Director with preparation for OSHA and third-party inspections, ensuring documentation is audit-ready.
- Monitor changes in safety regulations and help communicate updates to the HR Director and leadership team.
- Conduct jobsite audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain OSHA logs, workers’ compensation documentation, and other compliance records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Oversee safety equipment and supply inventory, ensuring teams have the PPE and safety equipment they need to work safely and effectively.
- Lead the workers’ compensation process with empathy and precision, managing injury logs, medical reports, return-to-work documentation, and compliance.
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
- Deliver engaging safety training sessions, including toolbox talks, onboarding, and field refreshers.
- Provide hands-on coaching in the field, reinforcing safe behaviors through real-time guidance.
- Partner with the HR Director to identify and develop future-focused safety training needs.
- Assist in training coordination for certifications such as First Aid/CPR.
OPERATIONS & DOCUMENTATION
- Conduct daily jobsite safety observations, providing constructive feedback and documenting findings.
- Assist in incident investigations, ensuring timely root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Manage daily safety documentation processes, including DHAs, equipment inspections, and checklists.
- Ensure safety documentation is centralized, accessible, and up to date.
- Support reporting processes for safety metrics to the HR Director and leadership team.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION
- Work closely with Project Managers, Foremen, and Superintendents to reinforce safety compliance on active projects.
- Serve as a boots-on-the-ground partner, building relationships and demonstrating commitment to crew safety.
- Provide weekly updates to the HR Director on safety concerns, trends, and progress toward goals.
- Assist in creating safety reports, policies, and procedures as directed.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Valid Driver’s License and proof of insurability required when job duties require use of motor vehicle
- 2 years of experience in a Construction Safety role, preferably in electrical, solar, or roofing industries
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Additional Train the Trainer Certifications a plus
- Willing to travel to various job sites and work locations
- Must be available and willing to work early mornings, late evening, weekends or holidays for events such as accidents, shut down procedures or crane operations as the employer determines necessary or desirable to meet business needs
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work full-time hours or more as needed
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs. unassisted; push/pull up to 100 lbs.
- May require repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
- May require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking throughout the workday
- May require climbing stairs or ladders, stopping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations
- May be exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites
- Noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud
- The position regularly works near live electrical loads and outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity and exposure to dust and asphalt
