Job Description

MASTER'S LEVEL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Who is Eligible?

Master's level students who are in the second (final) year of their studies in Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling or another clinical mental health profession who have completed at least one direct face-to-face clinical practicum or internship.

Selection Process and Requirements

Interested students should fill out an application and submit their resume, cover letter, and a letter of recommendation from a Department Chair, professor or academic advisor from a current or previous academic institution.

The application should be submitted through the Seacoast Mental Health Center (SMHC) website (www.smhc-nh.org). Applications will be accepted between March 1st and March 31st for fall placements.

Selected intern candidates will be contacted by the SMHC Internship Manager within two weeks after the closing of the application period to schedule an in-person interview. If out of state, a video conference may be scheduled.

If selected after the interview, internship candidates will be subject to background checks to include but not limited to driving, criminal, BEAS, OIG, sex offender and DCYF checks. Once these are cleared, a start date will be determined.

Learning

The internship is a 9-12 month long internship (or as required by the university) providing direct clinical services to assigned clients in their designated clinical program or department. Interns will carry a small case load.

Mater's level interns will have the opportunity to conduct bio-psycho-social assessments (intakes), provide direct psychotherapy and other clinical services as assigned. Interns will also attend team and educational meetings/seminars.

Supervision

Supervisors conduct weekly one-hour face-to-face supervision, provide progress/performance evaluations and review the intern's paperwork to ensure agency standards are met.

Audio or video recording of sessions will be permitted for educational purposes only if the appropriate consent has been obtained and SMHC policies are followed.

Interns will be expected to participate in the corresponding weekly meeting for the team they have been assigned to.
