Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity is for a dedicated Visually Impaired Teacher to support students with diverse needs in a school setting located in Fuquay Varina, NC. This role involves delivering specialized instruction designed to meet the unique challenges faced by visually impaired students, fostering their independence and academic growth.
Location: Fuquay Varina, NC
Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Position Type: Contract, Onsite
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to 20-23 students with varying visual impairments
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate accommodations and modifications
- Conduct assessments and monitor student progress in accordance with state standards
- Train students in the use of assistive technologies and adaptive tools
- Maintain detailed records and documentation required by educational regulations
Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license or certification
- Experience working with visually impaired students in a K-12 educational environment
- Strong knowledge of VI instructional strategies and assistive technologies
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
