Job Description
The Quality Lab Technician supports the quality control function by collecting, testing, and documenting samples from various stages of production to ensure that all raw materials and finished products meet established specifications and regulatory requirements. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to maintain accurate records, generate quality documentation, and uphold a clean, compliant, and well-organized laboratory environment while offering opportunities to grow and develop across different lab functions.
Responsibilities
- Collect and prepare samples from various stages of production in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of all samples to maintain traceability and integrity.
- Conduct thorough testing of finished products prior to release, following established quality standards.
- Perform testing and release of incoming raw materials to confirm conformance to specifications.
- Follow established protocols, standard operating procedures, and laboratory methods to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Conduct wet chemistry and titration tests, as well as other analytical chemistry procedures as required.
- Accurately enter and import test data into Excel and relevant quality systems.
- Maintain organized and complete records of test results and related information in both electronic and paper-based formats.
- Generate Certificates of Conformance (CoCs) and Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) based on test results.
- Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of CoCs, CoAs, and other quality documents before release.
- Ensure compliance with all record-keeping and documentation regulations and internal policies.
- Regularly calibrate, verify, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment according to schedules and procedures.
- Keep laboratory spaces clean, organized, and well-maintained to support safe and efficient operations.
- Coordinate day-to-day activities with other Quality Technicians to meet testing priorities and timelines.
- Collaborate with procurement and production teams to address material quality issues and support continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, clarify test requirements, and share results.
- Support backlog reduction by efficiently performing repeat tests on multiple samples as needed.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma.
- 1–2+ years of GMP quality, QA/QC, or laboratory experience if an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree has not been obtained.
- If a scientific new graduate, at least 2+ years of laboratory experience gained through education (such as coursework, labs, or academic projects).
- Hands-on experience in a quality control, chemistry, or laboratory environment.
- Experience working under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance principles.
- Practical experience with wet chemistry techniques and titration.
- Basic analytical chemistry skills and familiarity with common lab methods.
- Strong attention to detail when performing tests and documenting results.
- Experience entering and managing data in Excel and/or electronic quality systems.
- Ability to follow written procedures and protocols accurately.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to maintain organized records and manage multiple samples simultaneously.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a life science discipline preferred.
- Experience working in a GMP-regulated quality, QA/QC, or production laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with laboratory data entry, sample tracking, and documentation best practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic issues with tests, samples, or equipment in collaboration with other team members.
- Strong organizational skills for managing both electronic and paper-based records.
- Interest in learning and cross-training in different laboratory functions to support professional growth.
Work Environment
The role is based in two climate-controlled laboratory spaces designed to support consistent and accurate testing. Production personnel deliver samples to the lab, where the technician will frequently perform the same tests repeatedly to process a backlog of samples and meet client needs. Work is primarily performed at laboratory benches and with standard lab instrumentation in a structured quality-controlled setting. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to procedures, with regular interaction with quality, procurement, and production teams throughout the facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Porte, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
