Job Summary

The Advisory Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the College Program Advisory team and coordinating medications. This position supervises, provides coaching and training to all College Program Advisors to ensure all students have access to a student-centered, safe, and accepting relationship that supports their growth through skills coaching, regular self-reflection, and goal setting. This position is part of the Program Management team.

  • Hire, onboard, and supervise qualified Advisors; provide clear direction, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Establish and monitor advisory caseloads to ensure Advisors are providing effective services, participant and programmatic needs are met
  • Oversee the medication monitoring system as an acting Medication Coordinator, ensuring adherence to appropriate medical and legal standards by providing training, monitoring medication errors, collaboration with our nursing contract, and improving processes as needed
  • Monitor need for and coach creation of individualized accommodations for student skill acquisition
  • Demonstrate independent decision-making, planning and follow through
  • Build and maintain positive effective and professional communication with students, their families, external providers, and all other individuals inside and outside of MICC
  • Ensure effective weekend, evening and campus coverage structures, including crisis response systems including programming during family weekends and triage and support on a rotating basis as part of the Leadership On Call for participant support
  • Other duties as assigned

Leadership and Development

  • Build effective relationships, and inspire staff to achieve excellence in the daily administrative operations of advisory
  • Embrace change and create an environment that encourages creativity, independence, and willingness to learn and implement new techniques based on participants needs
  • Facilitate College and Careers collaboration meetings, and provide cross-team leadership and guidance to improve program delivery and outcomes

Communication

  • Establish and maintain good working relationships within the Advisory team, and across other MICC departments including Admin, Leadership, Advancement, Instruction, Careers and Community Program teams
  • Use a person-centered, strengths-based, coaching approach to mentor and support students in their MICC experience
  • Ensure strong professional and confidential communication with families in conjunction with Program Leadership when a student support need occurs

Student and Behavior Focus

  • Ensure all Advisors, processes, and programs are student-focused, resulting in high levels of student/family, Instructor, Job Developer and College Program satisfaction
  • Provide direct behavior support services through proactive strategies, de-escalation supports, and structured/responsive interventions when needed
  • Collaborate with Advisors to design individual student support plans and communicate them for consistency among staff members while monitoring patterns of student behaviors and conflicts to identify when additional supports may be needed

Administration and Documentation

  • Ensure high quality documentation of advisory case notes and family meeting documents and information in electronic documentation system
  • Oversee the development of annual goals and plans of every MICC College student
  • Monitor accurate medication records and ensure staff are appropriately trained and are providing safe and thorough medication monitoring services

Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Social Work, Wellness Coaching, Occupational Therapy, Behavior Therapy, Psychology, Special Education, or School Counseling preferred
  • Supervision or leadership/management experience 2+ years
  • Experience in working with neurodivergent and autistic young adults is highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding mental health with strong de-escalation skills
  • Have a track record of being a team player and community minded
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of colleagues, parents, families, and community members

  • 176 hours / 22 days (prorated upon start date) of paid vacation time
  • 80 hours / 10 days (accrued at 3.33 hours per pay period) of paid sick time
  • 80 hours / 10 days (holiday schedule available upon request) of paid holidays
  • 8 hours / 1 day for floating holiday
