Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A K-12 educational institution in Puyallup, WA is seeking a qualified professional specializing in education for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This contract position for the current school year offers the opportunity to support learners in developing communication skills and accessing the general education curriculum through specialized instructional strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to promote inclusive learning opportunities
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials to meet students unique auditory and communication needs
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of educational performance
  • Utilize assistive technology and resources to enhance student participation and success
  • Provide guidance on language development, auditory training, and social skills

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or equivalent licensure
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Knowledge of educational strategies and accommodations for hearing loss
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Familiarity with assistive listening devices and communication methods such as sign language, auditory-verbal, or cued speech

Location: Puyallup, WA
Assignment Duration: Contract position for the current school year (CSY)
