Job Description
This role focuses on precision TIG welding and fabrication of stainless steel components in a final assembly environment. You will work closely with the welding leadership team and a group of experienced welders to assemble machined and cut parts into finished products, primarily using TIG welding on thin-gauge stainless steel. The position emphasizes high-quality workmanship, accurate blueprint interpretation, and efficient use of fabrication tools to support short-run, client-specific production.
Responsibilities
- Perform TIG welding on thin-gauge stainless steel, primarily in horizontal positions but also in multiple welding positions as needed.
- Fabricate and assemble machined and cut parts into final products according to client-specific blueprints and job layouts.
- Oversee and support all TIG welding and final assembly work within the assigned product area.
- Use hand tools such as angle grinders and sanders to remove rough edges and finish newly stamped or formed stainless steel and aluminum components.
- Operate fabrication and machine shop tools, including tube benders, drill presses, and saws, to create or modify parts as required for each job.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, including symbols and tolerances, to ensure accurate assembly and weld placement for short-run and single-job production.
- Perform occasional MIG welding, as needed, in support of production requirements.
- Inspect welds and finished assemblies for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
- Work efficiently to meet production schedules while maintaining strong attention to detail and high standards of workmanship.
- Collaborate daily with welding leadership and team members to understand job priorities, resolve issues, and coordinate workflow.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all shop safety practices and using appropriate personal protective equipment.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of TIG stainless steel welding experience, including the ability to TIG weld very thin materials such as 14-gauge stainless steel.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints, including understanding blueprint symbols and tolerances.
- At least 3 years of hands-on TIG welding experience specifically focused on production work.
- Proficiency in TIG welding stainless steel from 20 gauge up to 11 gauge, with occasional work on 7 gauge material.
- Ability to weld primarily horizontal joints while also performing welds in multiple positions when required.
- Strong experience working with 14-gauge stainless steel sheet that is stamped and formed.
- Demonstrated ability to read and follow client-specific blueprints for short-run and single-job production.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to produce clean, precise welds and accurate assemblies.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently without compromising quality.
- Hands-on experience using hand tools such as angle grinders and sanders to deburr and finish metal parts.
- Experience operating basic fabrication tools such as tube benders, drill presses, and saws.
- Solid understanding of welding safety practices and proper use of welding PPE.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Fabrication and assembly experience in a manufacturing or job-shop environment.
- Experience with machine shop tools such as lathes, Bridgeport-style mills, saws, and grinders.
- Pipefitting experience related to stainless steel fabrication.
- MIG welding experience to support occasional MIG work as needed.
- Enrollment in or completion of an Associate’s degree in Welding Technologies, with the ability to demonstrate welding skills during a weld test.
- Ability to thrive in a short-run, client-specific production environment where jobs and setups change frequently.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate daily tasks with supervisors and team members.
- Willingness to learn, cross-train, and continue developing skills in welding and fabrication.

Work Environment
The work takes place in a very clean manufacturing and assembly facility that produces specialized equipment for medical and laboratory-related applications. The company employs approximately 84 people, with a dedicated welding group of about 10 welders, fostering a collaborative and team-focused environment. The facility is organized into multiple departments, including Engineering, Machining, Welding, Metal Finishing, and Shipping/Receiving, and handles the entire production process from raw material to finished product in-house. This position is on 2nd shift, working Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., providing a four-day workweek. You will work primarily with TIG welding equipment on stainless steel, along with hand tools such as angle grinders and sanders, and fabrication equipment including tube benders, drill presses, and saws. The dress code is practical working attire suitable for a welding shop, including a welding helmet and welding gloves, and steel toe boots are required for safety.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $56000.00/yr.
