Job Summary:

Liberty Tire Recycling is looking for a Safety Coordinator. As a Safety Coordinator, you will be providing technical safety, environmental, and health support to site leadership and corporate personnel. Works in conjunction with others to develop and roll out corporate safety, environmental and health programs, coordinate operational and safety training, and conducts daily/weekly & monthly audits. MUST BE ABLE TO READ, WRITE, AND SPEAK BOTH ENGLISH AND SPANISH

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Protect the employees, customers, and the environment.
  • Implement and train health, safety, operational procedures for all areas of the facility.
  • Ensure documentation is in compliance with all Federal, State and Local Government Regulations (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, DOT, Fire Department, etc.)
  • Effectively communicates with all levels of the organization to include drivers, plant employees, site leadership, regional leadership, human resources, legal and senior management.
  • Provides technical safety and health support and information to site leadership (GM) and Corporate Safety Director.
  • Works with site Leadership and Corporate Safety Director to prepare written safety and health procedures and policies.
  • Identifies company safety training needs, coordinates, and facilitates safety training programs.
  • Supports SOPs, KPIs, Strategic Planning, Injury Statistics, Operation Clean Sweep Events, Daily Safety Talks, and other written safety documentation.
  • Participates in new product/process assessments to improve operations and minimize personal risk.
  • Able to facilitate, various projects to final on-time completion.
  • Maintains corporate safety resources to include company intranet, videos, newsletter, and other reference materials. Maintain working knowledge of state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in field safety reviews, safety committees, corporate safety meetings, never ending improvement meetings.
  • Conduct risk assessments at various sites and work with all participants to improve.
  • Reviews process-operating procedures/records and provides input for safety and health considerations.
  • Help develop controls for identified hazards, coordinate the implementation of controls from results of hazard analysis. Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Gather, review, and communicate to management, in a timely manner, all legal regulations, rules and ordinances that affect facility operations.
  • Manages installation of site signage.
  • Coordinate development and implementation of hazardous materials procedure and policies as applicable.
  • Complete necessary injury reports and submit within 24 hours of incident.
  • Manage OSHA 300 log.
  • Assist in overseeing the online annual safety training, recommending required courses when needed.
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g., fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
  • Lead plant and transportation safety meetings as necessary.
  • Manages existing relationships with our safety vendors.
  • Ability to travel once a month for a day or two to sister site 110 miles from main site.
  • Manages site PPE purchase and distribution of PPE to employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety or related fields. Equivalent combination of education and related experience and knowledge of recycling, transportation, and manufacturing operations.
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish – beneficial

Compensation:

  • $75,000.00 annually, paid bi-weekly.
