Job Description
The Sanitation Lead plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene within our production and storage facilities, ensuring compliance with USDA guidelines. The lead position will perform daily sanitizing activities on equipment and throughout the plant, contributing to a safe and clean working environment. When the Sanitation Supervisor is off-site, this position will also step up to lead the sanitation team, assigning tasks, verifying completion, and upholding equipment integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Sanitation
Perform thorough daily sanitizing activities on various production equipment, including but not limited to:
- Egg Grader:

- Loaders: Remove egg debris and sanitize.
- Infeed: Remove egg debris and sanitize.
- Wash Tanks: Remove egg debris, de-scale, and sanitize.
- Egg Transfer: Clean with a damp cloth/brush.
- Track Carriers: Remove egg debris and sanitize.
- Packing Lanes:

- Denesters: Remove dust, dirt, and debris.
- Buffers: Sanitize and reinstall correctly.
- PKS Take Away: Remove egg debris, clean undersides, and remove belting for weekly deep cleaning.
- Pack-off: Remove roller trays and wipe/sanitize the area.
- Flat/Tray Washer: Remove excess debris, de-scale, and sanitize.
- Egg Washer: Clean nozzles, perform weekly CIP (Clean-In-Place) for the heat exchanger, and sanitize wash tanks.
- Pallet/Flat Washer: Drain wash water, clean the water storage basin, de-scale wash nozzles, wipe rubber seals, and sanitize washer contact areas.
- Shrink Wrapper: Clean the area around the wrapper and remove any waste.
- Marq Case Sealer: Clean the interior, remove old egg debris, and remove case debris.
- Conveyor Systems: Clean around, under, and remove any debris from all case conveyors.
Facility Sanitation
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across all facility areas:
- Floors:

- Clean all plant floor surfaces daily using a mop/bucket with sanitizing agent or a floor scrubber with a sanitizing agent.
- Ensure all flooring in, under, and around production equipment is cleaned.
- Clean all open traffic areas in production, dry storage, and cooler spaces daily.
- Clean egg storage areas at least quarterly.
- Walls/Ceilings:

- Clean all the walls and ceilings in production areas and dry storage areas at least weekly, or as deemed necessary.
- Clean ceiling vents and remove all spider webs from any surfaces daily.
- Clean all walls and ceilings in cooler spaces at least weekly, or as deemed necessary. Notify maintenance if HVAC systems require cleaning.
Leadership Responsibilities (When Supervisor is Off-site)
- Verify the completion of daily sanitation activities.
- Assign duties and tasks to other members of the sanitation team.
- Preserve the integrity of equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
- Sanitation Expertise: Strong working knowledge of general cleaning, proper PPE usage, sanitizing procedures, safe chemical handling, and acid/base neutralization procedures.
- Safety Conscious: Ability to work safely in high-traffic areas.
- Communication & Delegation: Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively delegate tasks to team members.
- Ownership Mindset: Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and responsibility for the sanitation department.
- Planning & Execution: Ability to plan and complete scheduled tasks efficiently.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to complete all assignments with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Physical dexterity to access close-quarters equipment.
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- The ability to safely bend, squat, and maneuver into areas requiring close-quarters sanitizing.
- Ability to maneuver cleaning equipment in designated areas.
Schedule
- Regular Duty Days: Monday - Friday, 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM.
- Weekend Duties: Weekend sanitation duties may be necessary and will be communicated as needed.
