The Veterans Transition Center of California (VTC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Veterans to move from crisis to self-sufficiency. We provide transitional housing, case management, mental health services, and other supportive programs to help Veterans overcome homelessness, addiction, and trauma.
Position Summary
The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) will play a vital role in VTCs mission by providing trauma-informed, veteran-centered mental health services to individuals and families participating in our transitional housing and supportive service programs. This role requires clinical expertise, compassion, and a strong commitment to supporting underserved Veteran populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions to Veterans experiencing PTSD, depression, substance use disorders, and other mental health challenges.
- Conduct psychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, and coordinate ongoing therapeutic care.
- Collaborate with case managers, housing staff, and community partners to ensure a wraparound approach to support.
- Facilitate crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
- Maintain clinical documentation in compliance with state, federal, and agency guidelines.
- Assist with discharge planning and referrals to external mental health, medical, or housing services.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and agency-wide initiatives focused on Veteran wellness and empowerment.
Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Current and active California LCSW license.
- Minimum of 2 years post-licensure experience in a clinical setting, preferably with veterans, homeless populations, or individuals with co-occurring disorders.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health records and documentation standards.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with Veterans or within a transitional housing or nonprofit environment.
Compensation
- $95,000 - $100,000 annually
