This itinerant position offers the chance to make a direct impact on students by providing essential PT services during ESY (Extended School Year) while showcasing your adaptability as you travel between multiple school sites. In this role, you'll work closely with school staff to determine summer caseloads and fulfill any make-up minutes from recent school years, ensuring that students receive consistent and high-quality therapy. Candidates should be prepared to supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) when necessary, and must bring robust experience working within California schools.
Key Requirements:
- Valid California Physical Therapist license
- Prior experience delivering PT services in California school settings
- Flexibility to work itinerantly between sites (travel required)
- Ability to identify and manage caseloads for summer and compensate for previous school years
- Experience or willingness to supervise PTAs as needed
- Bilingual Spanish proficiency preferred
- Commitment to providing high-quality service and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver physical therapy services to students according to IEP requirements
- Assess, document, and track student progress
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, and families
- Manage itinerant schedule and adapt to changes for maximum student support
- Provide supervision and support to assigned PTA(s)
- Participate in team meetings and professional development as requested
