This position is responsible for overseeing and supporting the daily functions of a general surgery unit, ensuring that patient care is both safe and efficient. Key duties include managing patient placements, staff assignments, and clinical operations, while also promoting effective communication between medical teams and families. Additionally, the role involves engaging in quality improvement projects, overseeing inventory management, and assisting with budgeting and resource allocation.

Registered Nurse (RN) – Clinical Supervisor, Med Surg General Surgery 3W

Location: Our Hospital - 10010 Kennerly Rd, St. Louis, Missouri 63128

Schedule: Full-Time | 36 hours/week

Shift: Night Shift

Position Summary

This role provides leadership and support for the daily operations of the unit, ensuring safe and efficient patient care. Responsibilities include coordinating patient placements and staff assignments, assisting clinical staff, and supervising clinical activities. The position also involves facilitating communication among staff, medical teams, and families; supporting educational training and orientation; and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

The role includes responding to changes in patient conditions, overseeing inventory and equipment maintenance, and collaborating with management on budgeting and resource utilization. As needed, the individual may perform nursing duties and contribute to committee work within the organization.

Qualifications

Education

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.

Licensure

  • Must obtain and maintain a current RN license in the state of employment and/or compact licensure where nursing duties are performed.
  • Must fulfill all requirements set by the state board of nursing.

Certification

  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or completion within 30 days of hire.

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in patient care is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking during shifts.
  • Capability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform job duties.
